Competence Center Software Engineering (CC-SE)
The CC-SE conducts research on current topics in collaboration with industrial companies and public authorities based in Regensburg, such as Infineon Technologies AG, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors GmbH, and the State Office for Finance. This collaboration has so far resulted in the development of concrete products or services for partner companies within a few years. The CC-SE employs students, graduates and doctoral candidates to work on these projects. For many years, the CC-SE's research projects have played a key role in transferring technology from the university to industry.
Goals
- Initiating and implementing applied research projects on medium-term issues facing industry and the economy. •
- Promoting the transfer of technology from the university to industry.
- Initiating and promoting exchange between companies in the Regensburg area.
- Adapting student education to focus more closely on the key qualifications required in applied research and practice, and introducing young people to companies' research areas in the region.
Reference projects
Application-oriented research projects are being conducted under the direction of Professor Dr. Herrmann in cooperation with companies. The research projects include, among other things:
- AI-based testing of microchip batches with Infineon Technologies AG;
- mathematical models for increasing the yield of end products from individual wafers and their approximate solution with AMS-OSRAM International GmbH;
- a concept for an IT-supported tool for complaint management with Infineon Technologies AG;
- AI-based improvement of failure mode and effects analyses with Infineon Technologies AG.
Information about the management and advisory board
The Competence Centre for Software Engineering (CC-SE) forms part of the Institute for Applied Research and Economic Cooperation at Regensburg University of Applied Sciences. It is led by Professors Dr Tsakpinis and Dr Herrmann.
The advisory board acts as the CC-SE's steering committee. Each industry partner and the university is represented on the advisory board by one member. The advisory board determines the goals and tasks of the joint project, selects employees, and assigns them to research projects directly related to one of the participating partner companies. This involves taking on sub-projects and supporting research projects to transfer methodological and tool knowledge.
It also defines overarching research projects and provides the necessary resources. The scientific project manager collaborates closely with industry partners to develop project proposals, which are then discussed and approved by the advisory board.
