Abstract
Free-space optical (FSO) communication requires light of sight (LoS) between the transmitter and the receiver. For long-distance communication, many research projects from academia and industry (Google, Facebook, Thales…) have been conducted towards using a network composed of high-altitude platforms (HAPs) flying at an elevation of 20 km to carry intermediate FSO transceivers that forward data between ground stations. The clear environment at high elevations prevents terrestrial obstacles from cutting the LoS between the transceivers. However, the use of HAP for FSO communications still face to some issues. Two issues that we focus on recently are: i) cloud cuts on LoS between a HAP and the ground leading to communication disruption, ii) small coverage of HAP on the ground leading to too many HAPs to be used. In this talk, I will present our latest research results in solving these two issues.

Abstract
In this research, we propose the use of a vector clock in an innovative knowledge graph deployed on the sidechain nodes. Based on the graph, our reasoning mechanism enables each node to deduce states of events on other nodes. Gathering event state information of other nodes helps create the consensus in the blockchain network efficiently. The proposal thus can be applied to IoT systems that need a high transaction confirmation speed. We also give some other research directions in the talk.
