AIR.CON 2026: Around 200 participants discuss the future of artificial intelligence in Regensburg

OTH Regensburg was also represented: Prof. Dr Wolfgang Mauerer took part in a panel discussion on trustworthy AI.

Around 200 participants from the worlds of business, academia, education, healthcare and the start-up scene gathered at the second AIR.CON at TechBase Regensburg. Among them was Prof. Dr Wolfgang Mauerer from the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics at OTH Regensburg. Organised by the AIR (Artificial Intelligence Regensburg) cluster, the AI conference provided a platform for discussion on current developments, innovative fields of application and the societal challenges posed by artificial intelligence.

Discussion, exchange and new ideas

A highlight of the conference was the panel discussion on the topic ‘Trustworthy AI: between innovation, the EU AI Act and digital sovereignty’. Together with other experts from the University of Regensburg, the BMW Group and Projekt 29 GmbH & Co. KG, Mauerer discussed the balance between technological progress, regulatory requirements and the responsible use of AI.

Later in the conference, topic-specific forums took place, exploring key issues surrounding the practical application of AI in greater depth. An accompanying trade exhibition and a wide range of networking opportunities also provided a space for professional exchange and forging new contacts.

With the conference receiving such a positive response, AIR.CON once again underlined its role as a key networking platform for the AI ecosystem in Eastern Bavaria.
