How does artificial intelligence actually work in paving? How do drones and sensor bikes optimise traffic flow? And what does popcorn taste like when made by a smart cooking appliance? Visitors learnt about this and much more on 25 September 2026 at OTH Regensburg. The university took part in Regensburg’s AI Day, which offered a varied programme comprising around 80 events at eleven different locations across the city.
Numerous companies and researchers provided insights into current projects, demonstrated prototypes and shared their practical experiences. The focus was on a hands-on approach: rather than simply talking about AI, participants were able to experience specialised AI applications for themselves. Furthermore, the programme offered insights into robotics, chatbots, cyber security, document processing and other current AI applications.
Through direct interaction with experts, visitors were also able to discuss their expectations, hopes and concerns regarding the use of artificial intelligence. For example, anyone who had always wanted to test whether they could distinguish AI-generated faces from real ones had the chance to put their instincts to the test here. With numerous discussions, practical demonstrations and plenty of opportunity to try things out, the event showed just how closely artificial intelligence is already integrated into the everyday lives of many people.
