Graduation ceremony and farewell reception for the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics

On Saturday, 9 May 2026, the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics at OTH Regensburg held a graduation ceremony in its K-building for those who had successfully completed one of the faculty’s degree programmes in the 2025/26 winter semester. Over 200 guests – including graduates, family members, friends and professors – gathered to celebrate this special milestone together.

The event was opened by the Faculty Dean, Professor Dr. Frank Herrmann. In his welcoming address, he expressed his confidence that all graduates are very well equipped to face the challenges of a long professional career, thanks to the faculty’s highly dedicated teaching staff, who are strongly supported by the faculty as a whole.

A special moment of the evening was the student speech by Fabian Becker BSc. In a personal yet humorous address, speaking on behalf of all graduates, he looked back on their time together at university – from challenging exam periods to the many memories that have shaped their studies.

In his thanks to Fabian Becker, the Dean noted that he had particularly appreciated his confidence, quoting from Mr Becker’s speech: “We have survived the Deutsche Bahn, we have survived tough exam periods, and we will not only survive the technological revolution driven by artificial intelligence, but actively shape it.”

As a gift, all graduates received a IM commemorative medal, designed by Professor Dr Frank Herrmann with the support of Mr Moldaschl for this graduation ceremony, along with a certificate. Both were presented personally by the Dean to each individual during an atmospheric ceremony, accompanied by congratulations on passing their exams, which was captured in photographs.

Following the official part of the event, guests enjoyed a lavish and appealing buffet.

The Computer Science and Mathematics Student’s Union ensured a party atmosphere, having organised a lively celebration with a bar and DJ. Through conversations, group photos and a great atmosphere, the graduates had the opportunity to look back on their time at university together once more.

This graduation send-off and celebration organised by the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics impressively demonstrated the faculty’s strong bond with its graduates and also with the faculty’s student representatives.

The Dean wishes all graduates a good start on their new path – whether in the world of work or in further studies.
