Abstract
The keynote lecture “Problem Solving and Error Resolution in Industrial Product Development” addresses how organizations can effectively handle technical issues, which is one of the most often used methods in high volume product development. It begins with cultural and historical perspectives on errors and highlighting the universality of mistakes. In the following problems and defects are defined using sources such as ISO standards, ASPICE framework and others. The core section introduces structured problem-solving approaches, focusing on Toyota’s A3 methodology and its link to the 8D process. These methods are explained step by step, using simple and practical examples. Root cause analysis tools, including the Ishikawa fishbone diagram and the 5 Whys technique, are demonstrated and supported with real-world industrial cases. The lecture concludes by evaluating advantages, limitations, and lessons learned, emphasizing systematic approaches to sustainable problem resolution.
